A mouthy, aggressive left-sided midfielder with genuine technical security and the capacity to drive through traffic in transition; his ball retention in tight spaces and willingness to take players on in the half-spaces remain genuinely useful. However, he's never been a creative force—his passing is safe rather than incisive—and at 32, his athleticism has dulled noticeably, making him more of a traffic-cone on the press. For a mid-table Belgian side, he's still an asset, but he's best used as a metronome and occasional spark rather than the main creative engine.
